Jean Kaluza - Graphic Artist Portfolio
Greetings!
I started off here, in Orlando, as a caricature artist at Universal Studios to pay for my keep as I finished my graphics degree at Valencia Community College. Currently, I'm working an internship for G&G Advertising and looking forward to pursuing a career as a freelance graphic artist.
I like creating unique clean sites, custom illustrations, animating fun characters, and creating unforgettable logos.
Here lies my portfolio where I have a selection of m latest work.
Dystonopia
Programs Utilized:Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash
Dystonopia is a website designed to 'look and feel' like your on a virtual paradise island. Created as an escape for patients with the movement disorder, Dystonia, the site offers 'islanders' a place to consule friends, find doctors, and rest an otherwise restless body. Dystonia is the third most common movement disorder after Tremors and Parkenson's disease. To find out more, or perhaps get some virtual sun yourself, click the image to have a look see!
The Lovely Bones (book cover design)
Programs Utilized: Illustrator
"The Lovely Bones" is about a young teenage girl murdered who tells her tale from the other side of the grave. A perfect inspiration to design a book cover design off of which just happened to be the project! The story actually takes place in the late 70s and the art I couldn't help but be inspired by the great That Guy himself.
"ButterFace"
Programs Utilized: Photoshop
Poor Sarah Jessica Parker. This is a movie poster mock up. All semester long we had to touch up this persons pimples, that persons teeth and make everyone look as "beautiful" and fake as possible. By the time the final project rolled around, my patients was up, "Sex in the City" was out, and it was on!! The most amazing part was the left side was the only part I touched up!!
Puff the Gradient-Meshed Dragon
Programs Utilized: Illustrator
This illustration came directly out of my sketch book. Originally color pencil on black paper, "Puff" became digitally rendered with a technique called "gradient-mesh" when I brought it into Illustrator. Designed to make you laugh, the piece is a perfect example of my approach to character design.
Graphic Portrait
Programs Utilized: Photoshop
A photo collage created to describe myself in pictures. If you look close enough, the background consists of every caricature I've ever gotten! The foreground has me smacking some drums around where instead of sound, you see images bursting from them. The images are of the family, friends, and things that inspire me. In case you're wondering, yes, I play.
Vegetables For Dessert
Programs Utilized: Dreamweaver, Photoshop, CSS
Being an artist at heart makes it easy and fun to design sites geared specifically to artists. Specially to ones as corky and edgey as Monty Rhode! Vegetables for Dessert is this comic artist's playground and showcase cleaverly packaged as if already on your fridge. I can't take full credit for the design, however, as I had Monty himself do most of that. Click the image to see more!
The Sun Bounce
Programs Utilized:Flash
The first thing you need to learn how to animate is a bouncing ball. This silly animation is my first attempt at just that. And though it's supposed to replicate what a bouncing ball does, one can't help but picture it as the actual sun in perhaps a particularly happy mood!
The Basic Walk
Programs Utilized:Flash
I think I should stress that this art work is not mine, but the instructor's. The animation, however, (aka movement) that you see was created by myself. Being so new to animation, I decided put my focus on Animation aspects and put my own art aside while I wrestle with such an amazing new medium! Hopefully soon we can see characters such as "Puff" prancing across this same screen...
